Gangseo-gu is stepping up for residents unfamiliar with the new media environment.
Seoul Gangseo-gu (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) announced that it will operate 'Resident Media Utilization Education' in line with the new media environment.
As non-face-to-face culture has taken root due to the spread of COVID-19 and the media environment is rapidly changing, the district has prepared this education so that any resident can acquire digital skills necessary for daily life.
The education consists of two courses: ▲Shall I try it too! Metaverse ▲Basics of smartphone video editing using KineMaster, both conducted in real-time via the online platform Zoom.
The 'Shall I try it too! Metaverse' course explores the metaverse, a virtual world where various activities can be performed using avatars online.
With non-face-to-face activities becoming common and the metaverse gaining much attention, participants will experience the metaverse using Zepeto, a representative metaverse app. The course will be held twice a week for a total of 8 sessions over one month starting February 7.
The 'Basics of smartphone video editing using KineMaster' course was prepared to meet the growing interest in video editing alongside the rising popularity of video creators and solo YouTubers, enabling anyone to easily produce and edit videos.
This course, held twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays for one month starting February 8, teaches how to shoot and edit videos independently using KineMaster, a free smartphone app.
Any interested Gangseo-gu resident can apply through the Gangseo-gu Video Media Center website, with 15 participants accepted per course on a first-come, first-served basis. The tuition fee is 15,000 KRW.
The district plans to continue offering various media education courses for residents, including blockchain, video editing, and video creators.
A district official said, "This education was organized reflecting residents' educational needs in line with the rapidly changing media environment," adding, "As it is an opportunity to resolve questions about the new digital culture, we hope many residents will show interest and participate."
