[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] LG Electronics is carrying out unique social contribution activities together with local residents in various overseas locations.
On the 19th (local time), LG Electronics announced on the 23rd that it selected residents who came up with excellent ideas on the theme of community development and problem-solving as 'LG Ambassadors' in KwaZulu-Natal Province, South Africa. LG Electronics had previously solicited ideas from South African residents in November last year.
The selection ceremony was attended by the residents selected as LG Ambassadors, Kang Jinkook, head of LG Electronics South Africa Corporation, and Lee Joohee, South Africa project manager of Hope Friends Korea Food for the Hungry International.
LG Ambassadors help improve education, hygiene, and support residents' self-reliance in their communities based on ideas they discovered themselves in collaboration with LG Electronics. This year, they plan to support computer education to enhance the capabilities of middle school students and agricultural education for unemployed residents in South Africa.
This activity is part of the 'LG Ambassador Challenge' project that LG Electronics has been conducting since 2017 to enhance the self-reliance capabilities of vulnerable groups.
LG Electronics plans to carry out projects in six countries including Bangladesh, Peru, Kenya, the Philippines, South Africa, and Ghana in cooperation with Hope Friends Korea Food for the Hungry International until the first half of this year.
