[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] On the 22nd, avian influenza (AI) was confirmed at a breeding duck farm in Jincheon, Chungbuk.
According to the AI Central Accident Response Headquarters, the farm is raising about 10,000 breeding ducks. This is the 22nd case of highly pathogenic AI confirmed at poultry farms this winter season. Upon confirmation of a suspected case, the initial response team was immediately deployed to the site to implement measures such as access control, culling, and epidemiological investigation.
The Central Response Headquarters stated, "This is a dangerous situation where highly pathogenic AI continues to be detected in wild birds and poultry farms," and appealed, "Please thoroughly inspect whether disinfection and quarantine facilities such as external fences and vehicle disinfection facilities are properly installed, along with closing secondary entrances and back doors where disinfection and quarantine facilities are not installed."
They also emphasized, "Please closely observe suspicious symptoms such as increased mortality, decreased laying rate, reduced feed intake, and lowered activity in farmed poultry, and report immediately to the quarantine authorities if any abnormalities are found."
