[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, expressed the view that "nothing is more important than life" regarding the recent incident during a drama shoot where a horse died and an actor was injured.

On the 22nd, Yoon stated on Facebook, "I hope public broadcasters will make more efforts to create a safe production environment for both people and animals."

He said, "I heard the unfortunate news that a horse died after falling during a horseback riding scene in a historical drama shoot. The stunt actor who filmed the scene was also injured and lost consciousness. I wish him a speedy recovery." The controversy grew after it was reported that a horse suffered severe injuries and died within a week during the filming of a horseback riding scene aired last year in KBS's historical drama 'Taejong Yi Bang-won.' On the 20th, the animal rights organization 'Kara' filed a complaint with the Mapo Police Station in Seoul against the person in charge of the 'Taejong Yi Bang-won' set for violating the Animal Protection Act.

Yoon said, "Horseback riding scenes are dangerous for both actors and horses," adding, "In overseas cases, even during the filming of the 1995 movie 'Braveheart,' detailed models were used for scenes involving horses dying or getting injured."

He continued, "Scenes that are dangerous to animals are also unsafe for people," emphasizing, "If there were excessive practices such as forcibly tying ropes to the horse's legs to make it fall, this opportunity should be used to improve and create an advanced filming environment."
