[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] A male part-time worker at Everland, a leading amusement park in Korea, was caught by the police for attempting illegal filming by hiding in the women's restroom.

The Yongin Eastern Police Station in Gyeonggi announced on the 21st that they had booked a man in his 20s, Mr. A, without detention on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.

Mr. A is suspected of entering the women's restroom inside Everland in Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, around 11 a.m. on the 15th and attempting to illegally film Ms. B's body with his mobile phone.

Ms. B discovered the mobile phone disappearing momentarily from the upper partition of the restroom, immediately left, caught Mr. A, and asked nearby visitors for help to detain him. Afterwards, Mr. A was arrested by the police who arrived following a report from another employee.

No photos of Ms. B or others were found on Mr. A's mobile phone at the time of arrest.

During the police investigation, Mr. A admitted entering the women's restroom but denied some charges, saying, "I did enter the women's restroom, but I did not film."

Earlier, around mid-last month, a report was received from a user of this restroom stating that "someone seemed to have illegally filmed and fled."

The police are currently conducting forensic analysis on Mr. A's mobile phone.

Meanwhile, Everland stated, "When a suspicious illegal filming report was received at the end of last year, we checked the surrounding closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and conducted a full inspection for illegal cameras in the restroom. We also provided training for employees and are currently considering measures such as sealing gaps in restroom partitions and ceilings to prevent such incidents."
