'Gaseyeon' YouTube Channel Suspended for One Week After Claiming "Vaccination Is Dangerous"

[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] The far-right YouTube channel 'Garosero Research Institute' (Gaseyeon) received a one-week suspension for uploads after making statements suggesting that "vaccination is more dangerous."

Lawyer Kang Yong-seok and former reporter Kim Se-ui, who operate Gaseyeon, announced on the YouTube channel 'Kang Yong-seok Gyeonggi Seoul Union' broadcast on the 20th that "Gaseyeon is unable to broadcast for a week due to YouTube sanctions for 'medical information policy violations.'"

According to them, YouTube deleted a Gaseyeon video on the 12th and issued a first warning, prohibiting content uploads and live broadcasts for one week. Therefore, Gaseyeon cannot operate for a week starting from the 20th. Channels that receive three warnings within 90 days are permanently removed from YouTube.

Meanwhile, the problematic statements in the deleted Gaseyeon video included remarks such as "There are also claims that vaccination might be more dangerous," and "Omicron is at the level of a cold, but enforcing the quarantine pass to block it is an excessive measure."

YouTube's community guidelines prohibit content containing claims such as 'COVID-19 symptoms, mortality, and transmissibility are not severe and are comparable to a common cold or seasonal flu,' 'vaccination does not reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection,' and 'vaccines are not effective in preventing the spread of COVID-19.'

Due to the one-week ban on video uploads, Gaseyeon plans to conduct its regular broadcasts through its sub-channel 'Kang Yong-seok Gyeonggi Seoul Union.'
