[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] Riding the 'home cook' trend, kitchen appliance company Cuchen's multigrain rice cooker '121 Rice Cooker' has sold more than 20,000 units in the past month.

According to Cuchen on the 22nd, the sales volume of the 121 Rice Cooker, launched in July last year, has recently surpassed 90,000 units. After exceeding 70,000 units last month, more than 20,000 units were sold within a month. The home shopping sales revenue of the 121 Rice Cooker last month increased by 241% compared to September last year.

The background of this performance lies in the home cook trend. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, more people have been having meals at home, leading to a corresponding increase in demand for rice cookers. The fact that the 121 Rice Cooker is the first in Korea specialized for multigrain rice is also considered a contributing factor. Along with the demand for healthy food, sales of multigrain rice cookers are also increasing. The 121 Rice Cooker applies ultra-high pressure technology, raising the cooking temperature up to 121 degrees Celsius. According to the company, this ultra-high pressure technology increases the moisture content of multigrains, enabling moist and chewy rice texture. It also has the advantage of convenience as there is no need to soak the multigrains.

To celebrate surpassing 90,000 units sold of the 121 Rice Cooker, Cuchen has prepared related events. The company is holding the ‘121 Day Rice Cooker Special Exhibition’ on its official shopping mall, Cuchen Mall, until the 1st of next month. In addition to special discounts, all customers will receive additional discount coupons applicable to some models of the 121 Rice Cooker. Among rice cooker purchasers, the first 121 customers will also receive coffee gifticons.

There will also be a Lunar New Year event until the 3rd of next month. During the event period, customers who purchase over 300,000 KRW at Cuchen Mall will receive department store gift certificates worth up to 30,000 KRW. The gift certificates will be sent out collectively after the 28th of next month.
