Exchange Used Batteries, Paper Packs, and Transparent PET Bottles for Volume-Based Waste Bags at Eup, Myeon, and Dong Offices
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do, is realizing carbon neutrality by 2050 by adding transparent PET bottles to the targets of the ‘Recyclable Materials Reward Project,’ following paper packs and waste batteries.
The ‘Recyclable Materials Reward Project’ is a program where residents collect a certain amount of waste batteries, paper packs, and transparent PET bottles and bring them to nearby eup/myeon offices or dong community centers in exchange for volume-based waste bags.
The reward exchange items are ▲ one 20ℓ volume-based waste bag or one set of batteries (AA, 2 pieces) for every 20 waste batteries ▲ one roll of tissue paper for every 20 paper packs of 1,000㎖ (or 40 packs of 500㎖, 80 packs of 200㎖) ▲ one 10ℓ volume-based waste bag for every 2kg of transparent PET bottles (maximum 5 bags per person per day).
For the recyclable materials reward exchange, paper packs must be washed clean, dried, unfolded, and stored.
Waste batteries should have external contaminants removed, and transparent PET bottles must have contents and labels removed, be compressed, capped, and collected.
A city official said, “To encourage voluntary reduction of single-use items and proper separation and disposal of waste resources, we are newly promoting the ‘2022 Recyclable Materials Exchange Project.’ We hope many citizens will participate in the project.”
