Changwon National University’s ‘Human Rights Respect, Value, Mind UP!’ System Selected as Ministry of Education’s ‘Gender Equality Campus Best Practice’

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Changwon National University Human Rights Center’s ‘Human Rights Respect UP! Human Rights Value UP! Human Rights Mind UP!’ system establishment and program operation were selected in the Ministry of Education’s ‘Best Practices Contest for Creating a Gender-Equal Campus.’


According to Changwon National University on the 21st, the ‘Human Rights Respect UP! Human Rights Value UP! Human Rights Mind UP!’ system is a project that establishes a tailored counseling and social consideration counseling and education support system for human rights violations such as sexual harassment and sexual violence, and operates a support system for prompt and fair incident handling and victim protection.


It also received favorable reviews in this contest for strengthening the human rights network by establishing an exchange and cooperation system with human rights-related organizations, and supporting human rights-friendly cultural projects and counseling and education to advance the human rights center services for campus members.


Changwon National University operated related programs throughout the campus in November last year.


‘Human Rights Respect UP’ included activities such as understanding illegal filming and digital crimes correctly, and a gender equality terminology quiz; ‘Human Rights Value UP’ included topics such as gender-equal society from recruitment, no human rights violations yes to human rights improvement, and labor rights counseling; ‘Human Rights Mind UP’ conducted trauma counseling and a campaign to raise human rights mind through human rights experiences.


Center Director Lee Jang-hee said, “Changwon National University will continue to strive to enhance human rights capabilities by fostering students’ respect for human rights values, attitudes, and character to understand social discrimination and conflicts.”
