Pukyong National University Hosts the 10th Pan-Pacific International Academic Conference

Pukyong National University Hosts the 10th Pan-Pacific International Academic Conference Participants of the 10th Pan-Pacific International Academic Conference are taking a commemorative photo.


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Dooyul] The Institute of Global Area Studies at the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, Pukyong National University, held the 10th Trans-Pacific International Conference on the 20th.


The conference was jointly hosted by the BK21 Project Group of the Graduate School of Global Area Studies at Pukyong National University and the International Area Studies Association.


The international academic conference, held under the support project for humanities and social science research institutes by the National Research Foundation of Korea, the 4th phase BK21 project, and the National University Promotion Project, was conducted under the theme "Incorporating Regions, Contesting Nations and Embracing Cities."


More than 40 scholars from seven Trans-Pacific countries including Korea, the United States, China, Japan, and Vietnam participated both online and offline, presenting and discussing topics such as the political, economic, and socio-cultural dynamics of the Trans-Pacific region.


On this day, world-renowned scholars such as Professor Emeritus Kim Moonjo of Korea University, Professor Noboru Hayashi of Nagoya University, and Professor Timothy Beatley of the University of Virginia were invited to hold a special session titled "City, Culture and the Sea."


In the special session, Professor Timothy Beatley, author of "Blue Urbanism," stated, "In the era of climate change, we must promote marine-friendly urban planning by exploring the connectivity between cities and the sea."


Following this, academic discussions were held across six sessions including △ Culture and Development in the Trans-Pacific Mega-Region △ Political Economy in the Trans-Pacific Mega-Region △ Next Generation Scholars Session, among others.
