Jeongeup-si Promotes 'Eco-friendly Agricultural Produce Package Support Project'

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province, is promoting the ‘Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Package Support Project’ to protect the health of pregnant women and newborns and to support farmers struggling due to COVID-19.

According to the city on the 21st, the Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Package Support Project was prepared to help the healthy dietary habits of pregnant women and children and to coexist with farmers going through difficult times due to COVID-19.

The support targets are mothers who have a resident registration in Jeongeup City as of the application date and have given birth since January 1 of this year or are currently pregnant.

However, pregnant women participating in the Nutrition Plus project promoted by the public health center are excluded from the support target.

Eligible recipients can receive fresh agricultural products, livestock products, processed foods, etc., worth up to 480,000 KRW per person (including 96,000 KRW personal contribution) for one year.

Applications can be made through the Pregnant Women’s Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Integrated Shopping Mall, and registration will close on a first-come, first-served basis by the 31st.

If online application is difficult, applicants can submit the application form, resident registration copy, pregnancy confirmation issued by a medical institution or birth certificate, and mother’s handbook to the town, township, or neighborhood office based on their address.

Supported items include eco-friendly certified organic agricultural products, pesticide-free agricultural products, organic livestock products, organic seafood, organic processed foods, pesticide-free raw material processed foods, and antibiotic-free livestock products (Korean beef, pork, fertilized eggs), etc.

Applicants can select and order desired agricultural products from the designated online shopping mall up to 4 times per month (16 times per year), with each order ranging from a minimum of 30,000 KRW to a maximum of 100,000 KRW, and pay only 20% of the total amount to have them delivered to their desired location.

The support and supply of eco-friendly agricultural product packages for pregnant women will continue until December 15, and all must be used within the deadline.

A city official said, “Through this project, we expect to provide healthy food to pregnant women and babies while also helping to provide stable sales channels for eco-friendly farms. We hope families can comfortably receive agricultural products carefully grown by farmers at home.”
