Planlabs to Enter Implant Market This Year... Aiming for 20 Billion KRW in Sales, M&A Acceleration

Digital dentistry company Planlabs announced on the 21st that it will enter the implant market in 2022 and actively pursue related M&A.

Planalabs formed a management partnership with implant specialist Plan Dental Clinic in June last year. Starting with the unification of the implant treatment department at the clinic, the company attracted attention in the dental industry by growing the clinic's monthly sales by more than 2,000% through differentiated consulting such as branding, big data marketing, and future digital dentistry business strategies. In particular, Plan Dental Clinic Gangnam branch expanded its hospital space more than threefold within six months of the consulting partnership and completed relocation to K Tower, a landmark building near Sinsa Station.

Planalabs has also recorded an average monthly sales growth of over 150% since its establishment, and this year it forecasts sales of 20 billion KRW, an increase of more than 600% compared to last year.

Furthermore, the company plans to enter the implant market. The implant market has a global scale of 5.4 trillion KRW, including Korea, with an expected annual growth rate of over 10%. Especially, Korea is the number one market in the world for the number of implants placed, making it a medical field with the greatest expected growth, according to the company.

A Planlabs representative evaluated, “In the saturated dental market, we are growing together with hospitals by unifying treatment departments centered on implants and providing professional medical services,” adding, “We will showcase a future-oriented digital dentistry business together with Plan Dental Clinic, the largest implant specialist in Korea.”

In 2022, Planlabs plans to focus on supporting the nationwide expansion of Plan Dental Clinic branches, differentiated medical services, and building a big data platform for digital dentistry R&D.

First, following the Gangnam and Dangjin branches of Plan Dental Clinic this year, four nationwide branch hospitals including Busan, Pangyo, and Incheon will be expanded. The company plans to operate its own clinical platform for new technology development and application, such as ▶ inter-branch collaborative treatment systems ▶ joint research and development platforms for medical staff.

A Planlabs representative stated, “Instead of simple quantitative growth by expanding hospital branches, we plan to build an R&D collaboration system with hospitals and medical device companies by integrating big data and digital technology into the dentistry industry to provide optimized customized solutions to patients.”

They continued, “The dentistry sector is an area expected to expand in the global medical industry market due to Korea’s excellent technology and price competitiveness. We plan to gradually enter related industries such as implants, 3D oral scanners and 3D printers, digital clear aligners, and bio dental materials by advancing the hospital’s know-how and experience.”

Additionally, Planlabs is preparing strategic alliances with IT solution companies in the digital dentistry field to build a smart hospital based on patient and procedure big data analysis for Plan Dental Clinic.

A Planlabs representative evaluated, “2021 was a meaningful year to refine our digital dentistry business strategy and strengthen partnerships with specialized hospitals,” adding, “This year, we will focus on hospital expansion, investment attraction, and dentistry company M&A.”
