[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Taemin] Hanyang announced on the 21st that it has signed an agreement with the Foundation for Cooperation between Large, Small and Medium Enterprises and Agriculture and Fisheries (hereinafter referred to as the Cooperation Foundation) to contribute to the Rural Coexistence Cooperation Fund.

The Rural Coexistence Cooperation Fund was introduced in 2015 to promote the sustainable development of agriculture, fisheries, and rural areas, as well as coexistence between companies and rural communities. Attendees at the signing ceremony included Yoo Jae-wook, Vice President of Hanyang, and Kim Soon-chul, Secretary General of the Cooperation Foundation, among other officials.

Through this agreement, Hanyang will contribute a total of 500 million KRW to support projects such as ▲renovation of village halls ▲scholarship support for elementary and middle schools ▲creation of village development funds ▲support for village festivals ▲replacement of boilers and wallpaper/flooring in areas including Yeosu City in Jeollanam-do, Haenam County, and Seosan City in Chungcheongnam-do.

The seven regions where the funds will be used, including Yeosu, Haenam, and Seosan, are all locations where Hanyang’s energy business is underway. Hanyang plans to fulfill its social responsibilities in these areas while laying the foundation for sustainable management by creating opportunities for growth together with local communities.

A Hanyang official stated, “We hope this fund will be of some help to regional development, and we will continue to make greater efforts to fulfill our social responsibilities.”

Since 2019, Hanyang has continuously strived for mutual growth with various stakeholders by contributing approximately 6 billion KRW in total to the Large and Small Business Win-Win Cooperation Fund through the Cooperation Foundation in three rounds, aiming to foster ongoing cooperative relationships with small and medium-sized partner companies.
