Gwangju Nam-gu 'Full Moon Photo Zone' and Other Resident Proposed Projects 추진

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, will promote 23 resident-proposed projects this year, including the installation of unmanned recycling collection machines and the creation of a full moon photo zone art street.

This is to strategically implement projects needed in the community through resident participation and communication.

Nam-gu announced on the 21st that it will carry out various projects proposed by residents of 11 neighborhoods within the district with a resident participation budget of 583 million KRW this year.

The resident participation budget projects were finalized after a public contest was held in the second half of last year targeting residents of 17 neighborhoods, followed by feasibility reviews by the district office departments and deliberations by the Resident Participation Budget Committee.

Among the main projects, residents of Wolsan 4-dong decided to install two unmanned recycling collection machines at the recently opened Wolsan 4-dong Administrative Complex Center to address illegal garbage dumping and increase resource recycling in densely populated housing and one-room areas.

It is expected to contribute to proper waste separation and a pleasant urban environment by providing easy access for residents.

Residents of Yangnim-dong plan to create a full moon photo zone art street on the rooftop of the Gwangju Design Promotion Institute on the 2nd floor of the craft-specialized street to offer nostalgic photos to visitors of the modern historical cultural village. A 3-meter-high full moon sculpture with LED lighting will be installed to create a unique attraction and a nighttime landmark.

In the apartment-dense area of Bongseon 2-dong, a children's park featuring flowers, trees, and plants will be developed. Roses, magnolias, crape myrtles, daffodils, and other flowers and trees will be planted on the site, and a bird’s-eye view map of the planted flora will be created to enhance appreciation for nature and ecological environment awareness.

Additionally, in Wolsan-dong, to ensure the walking safety of the elderly and prevent falls on snowy paths, the existing rusty safety bars installed on the hillside will be completely replaced, and in Baegun 1-dong, a fine dust traffic light for residents' health management will also be installed.

Other projects include the refurbishment of Nam-gu symbols installed on two apartment retaining walls in Juwol 1-dong and drainage maintenance projects to prevent flood damage in the rural area of Hwajang-dong.

A Nam-gu official stated, “We will promptly promote key policy projects proposed by residents to resolve inconveniences and improve satisfaction with district administration participation.”
