[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City is promoting the construction of a double-track railway section between Daejeon Station and Sapgyo Station (Chungnam Provincial Office).
On the 21st, according to the city, the four cities and provinces in the Chungcheong region proposed the "Chungcheong Inland Railway Construction Project" as a presidential election pledge.
The Chungcheong Inland Railway is a 74 km double-track railway construction project connecting Daejeon Station and Sapgyo Station. The city estimates the budget required for this project at 3.7 trillion won and expects the compensation and construction to take about 10 years.
The four cities and provinces in the Chungcheong region also included the promotion of five railway network projects, which are either being promoted or scheduled to be promoted, reflected in the government's "4th National Railway Network Construction Plan" established last year, as part of their presidential election pledges.
Among the projects reflected in the plan, the "Honam Line High-Speed Project" currently has a basic plan service cost of 500 million won secured, and the city expects the preliminary feasibility study results to be announced between February and March.
Also, the "Daejeon~Okcheon Metropolitan Railway Construction Project" plans to start basic and detailed design in the first half of this year and aims to open in 2026.
The "Daejeon~Sejong~Chungbuk Metropolitan Railway Construction Project" was newly included in last year's construction plan (new section from Banseok to Sejong Government Complex to Jochiwon, and existing Chungbuk Line used for the Jochiwon to Cheongju Airport section) and is currently undergoing a preliminary feasibility study, expected to be completed by October.
Additionally, this year, the following are scheduled: ▲ full-scale commencement of the relocation construction of the Daejeon Vehicle Maintenance Depot inbound railway (February) ▲ construction contract for the first phase of the Chungcheong Metropolitan Railway construction project (first half) ▲ start of preliminary feasibility study for the second phase of the Chungcheong Metropolitan Railway construction project (second half) ▲ completion of the transfer parking lot (210 spaces) at Guam Station on Urban Railway Line 1 and the improvement project of the Gyeongbu (Hoedeok~Jochajang) Jangdeungcheon Bridge (second half).
