Yogiyo Reveals Best New Popular Delivery Menus of 2021

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Delivery app Yogiyo announced on the 21st the most popular new delivery menu items of 2021.

The survey on new popular menu items excluded common menus such as chicken, pizza, and Chinese food, and was conducted by tallying the menus that recorded the highest order growth last year.

The number one new menu item for Yogiyo delivery food in 2021 was the "Croffle." It recorded a 620% increase in orders compared to the previous year. In particular, the Croffle was most loved by consumers in the Gyeonggi-do region. It showed more than three times higher order growth compared to other regions, with high orders mainly occurring in satellite new town apartment-dense areas where young residents such as newlyweds are concentrated.

The second most popular new menu was the "Rose" menu, which saw a 460% increase in orders compared to the previous year. It gained attention last year through various broadcasts and SNS, showing remarkable growth in the snack category. Following that, "Donut" ranked third. The number of donut orders increased by 120% compared to the previous year. It is interpreted that the popularity of various famous handmade donut brands last year also spread to delivery apps.

Among other menus outside the rankings, the steady popularity of "Burger" and "Mala" was notable. The popularity of handmade burgers increased, showing more than 1.5 times higher growth compared to the previous year.

Kim Hyun-deuk, head of Yogiyo's Data Office, said, "This year as well, with the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, more consumers are enjoying food at home, leading to various menus emerging as new popular items on delivery apps," adding, "In particular, delivery apps have now established themselves as a key part of dietary habits, and trends in the dining industry are immediately reflected, making them a barometer to glimpse the food consumption trends of Korean consumers."
