[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province, on the 20th, commenced the construction of the 'Dahamtgae Eoullim Center,' a key facility of the Sogye District Urban Regeneration New Deal Project.
The Eoullim Center, a complex functional space for residents' gatherings, culture, and education, is planned to be built with one basement floor and three above-ground floors, covering a total area of 1,068㎡.
The basement floor will serve as a parking lot; the first floor will include resident convenience facilities such as a shared kitchen, laundromat, and caf?; the second floor will house resident welfare facilities including a gym and shower rooms; and the third floor will feature a multipurpose auditorium.
After the center's construction, the 'Sogye Village Management Social Cooperative' will be entrusted with its operation, aiming to promote sustainable urban regeneration where village residents independently maintain the project even after its completion.
Profits generated from revenue businesses such as the gym, caf?, laundromat, and shared kitchen will be returned to the local community for the development of the village community and used to revitalize the village.
This project involves an investment of 19.2 billion KRW over four years in the Sogye area, a residentially vulnerable region, to build not only the center but also facilities such as the 'Forest of Creativity,' a play and cultural facility for youth and children, and 'No+ri Madang,' a resting space for seniors and children together.
In addition, the city will improve the residential environment of the Sogye District, activate the village community so residents can practice urban regeneration themselves, increase urban vitality, and implement various projects to restore urban competitiveness.
Mayor Heo stated, "The Dahamtgae Eoullim Center will serve as the cultural, welfare, and educational hub of the resident community in the underdeveloped Sogye area, breathing new life into the downtown area. We are committed to safely constructing the center within the promised timeframe so that residents can use it as soon as possible."
