[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is promoting the '2022 Eco-friendly Agriculture Support Project' to expand eco-friendly agriculture and enhance the competitiveness of farming households.
According to the county on the 20th, the main projects in the eco-friendly agriculture promotion sector this year include ▲Eco-friendly certified compost support project ▲Eco-friendly agricultural product certification support project ▲Eco-friendly agriculture distribution activation support project ▲Eco-friendly agricultural materials (snail) support project ▲Organic farming leading farm processing and distribution support project ▲Organic material support project ▲Pesticide safety use equipment support project ▲High-quality rice production complex creation project ▲Gyeongnam public interest direct payment project, among others.
The representative eco-friendly agriculture support project, the eco-friendly certified compost support project, provides KRW 913,000 per hectare (50% subsidy, 50% self-payment) for eco-friendly certified farmland of eco-friendly certified farms in the region.
The eco-friendly certification fee support project subsidizes 90% of the certification cost for eco-friendly certified farmland, with 10% self-payment. The eco-friendly agricultural materials (snail) support project is open to both eco-friendly farms and conventional farms, providing KRW 300,000 (50% subsidy, 50% self-payment).
Since application dates, eligibility, and support criteria vary by project, caution is required. Farmers wishing to apply can inquire about detailed support information by contacting the industrial economy department or the agriculture and livestock division of each eup/myeon before applying.
Sancheong-gun has been promoting eco-friendly agricultural product production and distribution support projects for various crops such as rice, Korean beef, strawberries, pears, dried persimmons, and bracken, centered on the Sancheong wide-area eco-friendly agriculture complex established in 2007. Currently, 770 hectares (407.6 ha organic farming, 362.4 ha pesticide-free) and 706 farms produce eco-friendly agricultural products using eco-friendly farming methods.
A county official said, “The eco-friendly agriculture support project aims to meet consumers' demands for safe food while reducing the management cost burden on farmers practicing eco-friendly agriculture. We ask farmers wishing to apply to submit their applications according to the reception period for each project. We will strive to realize sustainable eco-friendly agriculture through this project.”
