Naju-si Holds Major Business Plan Report Meeting... Discussion on New Policies


[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] On the 20th, Naju City, Jeollanam-do announced that it held the ‘2022 Major Business Plan Report Meeting’ by department, presided over by Mayor Kang In-gyu, at the main conference room of the city hall from the 17th to the 19th.


The report meeting was held over three days in the order of the General Affairs Bureau, Future Strategy Industry Bureau, Safety City Construction Bureau, Health Center, Communication Policy, Planning and Budget, Audit Office and Major Cooperation Office, and Agricultural Technology Center. A total of 78 newly discovered policies and 238 key policies from 34 departments were presented and discussed.


The city pointed out proactive responses to this year’s key administrative directions such as ‘the groundbreaking of the Energy-ICT Convergence Knowledge Industry Center and large-scale Energy Valley development projects’ and ‘the formation of a task force for the relocation of public institutions in preparation for Innovation City Season 2.’


It also emphasized tailored support to overcome the prolonged COVID-19 crisis and the establishment of a dense safety net in the local community, including ‘management support for small and medium-sized enterprises,’ ‘conversion of small business owners to social enterprises,’ ‘local youth job projects,’ ‘discovery of welfare blind spots,’ and ‘detailed projects for the three friendly cities for women, the elderly, and children.’


This year, the city will focus on building the foundation for energy sector construction and development projects involving large-scale budgets such as ▲ fostering a small but strong research and development special zone ▲ Energy-ICT Convergence Knowledge Industry Center ▲ Low-voltage DC core equipment certification support center ▲ EV·ESS used battery recycling industrialization ▲ Bitgaram Energy Cluster investment leading district.


It plans to accelerate the promotion of key residential projects in Innovation City, such as supporting the successful establishment of Korea Energy University, scheduled to open in March, the Bitgaram Innovation City Complex Innovation Center, and the Living SOC Complex Center.


Urban regeneration-based revitalization of the old downtown will also be pursued, including performance improvement of the aging Yeongsan Bridge, ‘Naju Eupseong, Yeongsan-dong, Jugnim-dong, Geumcheon-myeon urban regeneration projects,’ ‘old Naju Theater cultural regeneration,’ ‘Ichang-dong vulnerable area living condition improvement project,’ and ‘Nampyeong-eup urban regeneration New Deal project contest.’


As for agricultural policies, the city will promote projects such as the ‘Yeongsan Riverside Living Area Revitalization Project’ targeting five myeon including Gongsan and Seji, selected in this year’s rural agreement contest, as well as ▲ Naju local food certification system ▲ supply of Non-GMO canola oil for future generations ▲ establishment of smart APC to strengthen integrated marketing of agricultural products.


Other notable projects include ▲ construction of an archive to record the lives of Naju residents ▲ improvement of public sports facility environments such as building a dedicated squash stadium ▲ support for the construction of the Namdo Righteous Army History Museum ▲ creation of urban forests in Bitgaram Innovation City ▲ disaster relief funds for residents affected by house fires.


A city official said, “During the seventh elected term, remarkable achievements were made every year amid crises and challenges, such as the promotion of five leading policy tasks in 2020 and COVID-19 response last year. We ask that departments make every effort to ensure that their major pending projects can be the driving force for the successful conclusion of the seventh term and the core promotion of the upcoming eighth term.”
