Ulsan Fire Department personnel who received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award for their accident-free flight record with the firefighting helicopter are taking a commemorative photo.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Ulsan Fire Department's Air Rescue and Ambulance Team has achieved a 21-year accident-free flight record with their fire helicopter, receiving the Minister of the Interior and Safety's institutional commendation and the Fire Agency Chief's individual commendation.
The individual commendation was awarded to Fire Lieutenant Lee Jun-won of the Ulsan 119 Air Unit.
Since introducing the Russian-made Kamov fire helicopter in December 2000, the Air Rescue and Ambulance Team has carried out a total of 2,598 missions by the end of 2021, including 427 life rescues, 23 patient transports, and 481 wildfire extinguishing operations, maintaining an accident-free flight record.
Air Unit Chief Yoo Yoon-sik said, "It was the effort of the air unit members who have safely carried out their duties on site for the long period of 21 years," adding, "We will continue to strive to protect the safety and lives of citizens through training and thorough maintenance."
The Ulsan Fire Department was selected as an 'Excellent Institution' for two consecutive years in 2019 and 2020 during the aviation safety inspections conducted by the Fire Agency, receiving the Minister of the Interior and Safety's commendation.
