[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The Seoul Regional Headquarters of NongHyup (Head Hwang Jun-gu) announced on the 19th that it conducted a food safety inspection at the Namseoul NongHyup Main Branch Hanaro Mart in celebration of the Lunar New Year holiday.

Seoul NongHyup has designated a special food safety management period for three weeks starting from the 10th of this month to provide customers with trusted agricultural products and safe food ahead of the Lunar New Year, and has been conducting food safety inspections.

This special inspection, targeting NongHyup Hanaro Marts and livestock product sales outlets within Seoul, will focus on checking the origin labeling of ritual food items, expiration dates, and compliance with the beef traceability system.

Hwang Jun-gu, Head of Seoul NongHyup, said, "Due to COVID-19, thorough management of food safety and hygiene is necessary. As many customers visit the stores during the holiday, we will conduct thorough inspections of business sites and do our best to supply consumers with safe agricultural and livestock products."

Meanwhile, Seoul NongHyup operates a total of 54 Hanaro Marts and 21 local food direct sales stores. To support farmers facing difficulties in securing sales channels, it leads urban-rural cooperation efforts such as the annual 'Selling Local Agricultural Products Campaign.'
