Ranked 5th Among Global Construction Firms and 2nd Among Major Domestic Builders Through Voluntary Evaluation
Building a Globally Leading Sustainable Management System Based on ESG Management Expansion
Hyundai Engineering announced on the 19th that it received a score ranking 5th among global construction companies and 2nd among domestic construction firms in the 2021 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) evaluation.
The DJSI is a global sustainability management evaluation index jointly developed by the U.S. S&P Dow Jones Indices and S&P Global Switzerland SA. It comprehensively considers not only economic indicators but also non-financial performance such as environmental, social, and governance factors to determine index inclusion.
Although Hyundai Engineering is an unlisted company and not subject to DJSI evaluation, it voluntarily participated in the DJSI assessment to externally objectify the company's level of sustainable management. The company explained that the evaluation score qualifies for inclusion in the DJSI Asia Pacific (hereafter AP) and DJSI Korea indices.
A Hyundai Engineering representative stated, "As a result of all employees taking an interest in the company's sustainable management and striving to establish an ESG management system, we were able to achieve a top-tier evaluation result recognized by the global sustainability management index DJSI." He added, "We will continue to fulfill our social responsibilities as a global EPC company and expand our ESG management system to carry out sustainable management activities."
