The Corruption Investigation Office Attempts to Arrest Another Person Besides Son Jun-sung in the 'Report Solicitation' Case...Rejected by the Court

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Agency (HCIA) has been confirmed to have requested an arrest warrant for another individual besides Prosecutor Son Jun-sung while investigating the 'accusation solicitation' allegations, but the warrant was dismissed.

According to the 'Warrant Request and Issuance/Dismissal Status' data received by Rep. Jo Su-jin of the People Power Party from the HCIA on the 19th, the HCIA applied to the court for arrest warrants and detention warrants twice each since its launch until the 10th, but all were dismissed.

Until now, it was known that the HCIA had only requested warrants for Prosecutor Son. However, this data newly confirmed that there was another subject for whom the HCIA requested a warrant. Regarding Prosecutor Son, the key suspect in the accusation solicitation case, the HCIA requested one arrest warrant and two detention warrants since October last year, but all were dismissed.

The remaining one arrest warrant was related to another suspect involved in the accusation solicitation case. This was also dismissed by the court.

The HCIA requested a total of 37 "communication warrants" (requests for permission to provide communication fact confirmation data), of which 28 were issued. When a communication warrant is issued, it is possible to obtain the phone numbers of the subject and their contacts with whom they communicated via phone or KakaoTalk, as well as internet log records.
