T'way Air Transports Kyrgyzstan Industrial Trainees

[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] T'way Air announced on the 19th that it transported industrial trainees from Kyrgyzstan to South Korea via a charter flight.

The charter flight of T'way Air departed Incheon International Airport on the 17th as an empty plane, carrying 117 people including industrial trainees from Kyrgyzstan, and arrived in Korea around 6 p.m. the previous day. The entry of industrial trainees from Kyrgyzstan was suspended due to the impact of COVID-19 and this is the first time in two years.

Passengers completed polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests before boarding and underwent entry procedures according to COVID-19 quarantine guidelines after arriving in Korea. The charter flight was also thoroughly disinfected for quarantine purposes.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, T'way Air transported over 700 Korean residents living in Kyrgyzstan to South Korea in four trips from April to July 2020.

A T'way Air official said, "We understand that small and medium-sized enterprises requiring overseas technicians are facing severe labor shortages due to COVID-19," adding, "We will actively participate in the various efforts of the people to overcome COVID-19."
