Goheung-gun Holds Completion Ceremony for Agricultural Food Manufacturing and Processing Facility Factory

Processing and Distribution of Namul Varieties, Creating Farm Income through Domestic and Overseas Market Expansion

[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] On the 18th, Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do held a completion ceremony for the agricultural food manufacturing and processing facility at Damwoo Co., Ltd., an agricultural corporation located in Dohwa-myeon, attended by about 50 people including County Governor Song Gwi-geun and heads of local organizations.

The newly completed agricultural food manufacturing and processing facility is a convergence industry facility based on various agricultural food resources cultivated in the region. It serves as an opportunity to seek new avenues for regional development by creating local jobs and fostering hometown enterprises through vertical integration from production to processing, distribution, and export.

Until now, Damwoo Co., Ltd. had no manufacturing and processing facilities and sold only raw materials through manual labor. Due to low regional recognition, it faced difficulties such as not receiving fair prices. However, last year, through the Jeollanam-do agricultural food manufacturing and processing facility support project and the Jeonnam Technopark smart factory support project, it established a new processing plant (40 pyeong) and installed six types of equipment, officially expanding its distribution channels domestically and overseas.

Damwoo Co., Ltd. (CEO Mo Yoon-sook) is a social enterprise promoting coexistence with local residents. It has created jobs for seven local seniors aged over 80, contracted with four farms for vegetable cultivation, and developed a vegetable processed food brand called "Yeolduddal (12 Months)," generating annual sales of 300 million KRW. Currently, its popular products are sold not only domestically but also through Amazon channels in the United States and Europe, as well as at the Ulta Mall in Los Angeles, USA.

A county official stated, “With the completion of this agricultural food manufacturing and processing plant, we will secure sales channels for agricultural products such as pickled chwinamul, bangpungnamul, gondre namul, and bujikkae namul, which are cultivated and produced locally. We will also expand distribution channels to receive fair prices and foster food companies within the county to contribute to income generation for local residents by devising various measures.”
