[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A wanted person who had been evading capture for about 5 years and 6 months was caught by the police after causing an accident while driving a motorcycle without a license and under the influence of alcohol.
According to the police on the 19th, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul arrested Hwang Mo (42) on charges of unlicensed driving and drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act at around 12:15 a.m. on the 6th of this month in Samjeon-dong, Songpa-gu, and sent him to the prosecution.
At the time of arrest, Hwang was driving a motorcycle in a state of severe intoxication without a license and caused an accident by colliding with a passenger car. It was reported that Hwang's blood alcohol concentration corresponded to license cancellation.
When the police checked his identity at the scene, Hwang was identified as a wanted person with an arrest warrant issued for multiple charges including fraud at the Jinju Police Station in Gyeongnam in June 2016, along with several notifications of wanted status.
The police who arrested Hwang investigated the charges of unlicensed driving and drunk driving and then transferred him to the Jinju Police Station in Gyeongnam.
