Seocho 1-Person Household Support Center Delivers Holiday Meal Kits to 400 Young and Middle-Aged Single-Person Households

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The Seocho Single-Person Household Support Center announced that it will deliver New Year's rice cake soup meal kits on the 24th to a total of 400 single-person households, including middle-aged and young adults, who are spending the holiday season alone at home due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation.

The Seocho Single-Person Household Support Center (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Center’) is a welfare institution established by Seocho-gu, the first local government to create a support center for single-person households, providing safety, care, and convenience services for single-person households.

The Center, in partnership with hy (formerly Korea Yakult), plans for Fresh Managers (Yakult delivery ladies) to deliver the meal kits directly to homes so that single-person households can enjoy warm meals.

In addition, to celebrate the Lunar New Year holiday, the Center will hold an untact quiz event (Challenge! Single Bell) through the ‘2022 New Year’s Greeting Video.’ Prizes will be awarded by lottery among those who score perfectly on the quiz. The event will take place from the 20th to the 26th on the Seocho Single-Person Household Support Center website and YouTube channel (Seocho Single Talk).

Meanwhile, last Chuseok, the Center provided meal kits for beef bulgogi royal tteokbokki, and at the end of last year, it held an untact year-end home party, offering red bean porridge meal kits and mood-making kits, receiving great responses.

A district official stated, “As the COVID-19 situation prolongs and people spend more time at home, single-person households who tend to rely on instant foods like cup noodles are encouraged to enjoy nutritious holiday meals and spend the holiday warmly.”
