[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] The Progressive Party criticized Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party candidate, saying that his spouse Kim Geon-hee's remarks about the 'Me Too' movement constitute a "clear case of secondary victimization."

On the 18th, the Progressive Party issued a statement saying, "In a phone call with a reporter from Seoul Voice, Ms. Kim said, 'The Me Too movement only erupts because people are not receiving money.' This belittling of sexual violence victims' Me Too claims as mere 'complaints about not receiving money' blatantly reveals Ms. Kim's true character," strongly condemning her remarks.

Regarding Yoon's response of "I have nothing further to say," the party pointed out, "This is proof that he has never sincerely considered the plight of sexual violence victims even once."

The Progressive Party stated, "Ms. Kim and candidate Yoon must apologize to the sexual violence victims," and pointed out that this is "a clear case of secondary victimization of victims of power-related sexual crimes."

They continued, "The Me Too movement is a process of confronting the distorted prejudice that tries to dismiss sexual violence incidents as 'personal matters' and instead bringing the experiences of sexual violence victims into the public sphere as 'social issues,'" emphasizing, "The Progressive Party will always continue to support and stand in solidarity with sexual violence victims in their recovery to everyday life."
