[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] A total of 117 newly appointed firefighters in the Jeonnam region have taken their first step.

The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters Fire School announced on the 18th that it held the '10th and 11th New Appointee Course Entrance Ceremony' on the 17th and began training for the new course.

The trainees will undergo a 15-week residential training program at Jangheung Fire School until April 29.

Before the entrance ceremony, all new trainees underwent a preliminary PCR test, confirmed negative, and the event was conducted strictly following infection prevention and quarantine guidelines.

As new firefighters, they will acquire basic knowledge and theoretical courses such as fire laws, as well as various field skills necessary for disaster sites, including fire suppression, life rescue, and first aid, before being assigned to 18 fire stations across the province.

The new appointee course is conducted with a focus on practical and hands-on training centered on the field, aiming to cultivate professional firefighters who are strong on-site and can perform their duties without any issues when deployed to disaster scenes.

Seo Seungho, Director of Fire Education, said, "Congratulations on taking your first step as a firefighter," and added, "I hope everyone completes the training course diligently with pride and becomes professional firefighters."
