[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, and Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, will hold their first TV debate on the 27th.
Park Jumin, head of the Democratic Party's Broadcasting Debate Content, announced in a briefing on the 18th that the two candidates agreed to hold a one-on-one debate for 120 minutes starting at 10 PM, hosted by the three major terrestrial broadcasters.
Park said, "Last Thursday, the Democratic Party and the People Power Party requested the three broadcasters to hold a TV debate, and we received an official response today," adding, "A 120-minute one-on-one debate has been confirmed."
He continued, "The three broadcasters proposed a four-party unification debate after the Lunar New Year holiday, which candidate Lee also accepted," and added, "We also expect participation from the other three party candidates, including candidate Yoon."
