[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan's public delivery app 'Dongbaektong' will officially launch its service across the entire city of Busan starting from the 19th.
Dongbaektong is the nation's first online integrated market app that encompasses food and beverage stores, traditional markets, and local company product shopping malls.
The app completed its pilot operation in Yeonje-gu, which began last October, and is now fully prepared for ordering and delivery throughout Busan.
Dongbaektong was developed to expand online sales channels for small business owners struggling with excessive fees and advertising costs in the private delivery app market, which has formed a monopoly system.
The Busan city government has established a basic operating policy of a "3-no (無)" policy?no membership fees, no advertising fees, and no brokerage commissions?for small business owners joining the platform.
The city has set securing a variety of franchise stores as its top priority and aims to enroll by 2023 ▲20 traditional markets with over 500 stores ▲over 5,000 restaurants ▲200 small and medium enterprises with more than 1,000 products.
By linking with local popular restaurants that require waiting in line to taste and offering differentiated strategies such as online shopping for neighborhood stores like hardware and lighting shops, Dongbaektong plans to widely promote itself and achieve successful establishment.
When paying with the Busan local currency Dongbaekjeon on the Dongbaektong app, cashback is applied immediately, which is not available on other private order apps.
The city is also promoting a launch event offering a total of 15% cashback, adding an additional 5% on top of the existing 10%.
BNK Busan Bank is running an event to encourage the use of Dongbaektong by refunding 500 won when payment is made with a Busan Bank card on Dongbaektong.
Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, said, "I hope Dongbaektong becomes a new hope for small business owners who had no choice but to use private delivery apps despite excessive fees during the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic."
