Coupang Fulfillment Service Appoints Three Co-CEOs


[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Coupang's logistics subsidiary, Coupang Fulfillment Services, will operate under a three-person co-CEO system. Coupang Fulfillment Services announced on the 18th that the three CEOs?Eom Seong-hwan, Head of Human Resources, Jeong Jong-cheol, Head of Legal Affairs, and Munyos Jeffrey Lawrence, Head of Operations?will each lead their respective key divisions to expand synergy.


Through this personnel appointment, Coupang Fulfillment Services aims to promote rapid decision-making and efficient management based on expertise. Additionally, the company plans to continue investing and making efforts in key areas such as expanding nationwide logistics infrastructure, creating quality jobs, and establishing a safe working environment.


Since 2020, Coupang has invested approximately 250 billion KRW to create safe workplaces. Through this, Coupang Fulfillment Services has led the industry in worker safety by reducing the accident rate by 30% from 2020 to 2021.


Eom Seong-hwan, Head of Human Resources at Coupang Fulfillment Services, is an expert with over 20 years of diverse experience in recruitment, talent development, and organizational development. He joined Coupang in 2015 and has served as the overall leader of the HR division at Coupang Fulfillment Services since 2018. Prior to joining Coupang, he worked as an HR manager at JobKorea from 2006 to 2015.


Munyos Jeffrey Lawrence, Head of Operations, joined Coupang in 2018 and has been the overall leader of logistics operations since September 2019. Before joining Coupang, he held various positions for over 10 years at the global company Amazon, primarily in operations-related roles.


Additionally, Coupang Fulfillment Services newly appointed Jeong Jong-cheol, a former lawyer at Kim & Chang law firm, as Head of Legal Affairs. Jeong will be responsible for all corporate legal affairs at Coupang Fulfillment Services and will focus on providing legal support to strengthen ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management. Jeong served as a judge at the Seoul District Court and worked as a corporate lawyer at Kim & Chang law firm from 2001 until recently, handling various projects including enhancing corporate competitiveness and managing corporate culture change.
