LG Uplus Partners with SR to Launch Train Travel VR Content

VR Video of SRT High-Speed Running up to 300km/h Released through U+DIVE App

LG Uplus Partners with SR to Launch Train Travel VR Content

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] LG Uplus announced on the 18th that it will collaborate with SR, the operator of SRT (Suseo High-Speed Railway), to introduce SRT train travel virtual reality (VR) content through the extended reality (XR) platform ‘U+DIVE’ application in celebration of the upcoming Lunar New Year.

The train travel VR content released by the two companies is an immersive experience created as a VR video from the first-person perspective of an SRT driver, showing the train running at high speed. It is characterized by delivering a vivid sensation as if actually traveling on the SRT train.

The content consists of five 5-minute videos capturing the driving scenes of five sections: ▲Dongtan-Gongju ▲Gongju-Iksan ▲Iksan-Gwangju Songjeong ▲Gwangju Songjeong-Naju ▲Naju-Mokpo. Despite the fast speed of up to 300 km/h, viewers can comfortably feel the speed without any shaking up, down, left, or right.

In particular, viewers can realistically enjoy thrilling situations unique to high-speed trains, such as a train on the opposite track passing by at high speed, or suddenly entering a tunnel where it becomes dark and then light appears in an instant.

On the 24th, the U+DIVE app will organize a ‘Homecoming Travel’ category consisting of a total of 34 videos, including the SRT train travel VR content, and will hold a content viewing event until the 4th of next month. Depending on the number of views, prizes will be awarded by lottery, including a Nintendo Switch (1 person), AirPods Pro 3rd generation (1 person), and Starbucks coffee vouchers (50 people).

The U+DIVE app can be downloaded by anyone regardless of their mobile carrier through One Store, Google Play Store, and Apple App Store, and the SRT train travel VR content can be enjoyed for free.

Yoonho Choi, Executive Director of LG Uplus, said, “The train travel content introduced with SR this time is differentiated content that allows users to feel a faster sense of speed compared to existing content.” He added, “Both companies will continue to expand content such as seasonal videos of various regions boasting beautiful scenery and high-speed driving videos enjoyed from the passenger seat perspective.”
