Participation in Weekend Education Programs Available with the 'Lead and Play Kids' Package
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] As COVID-19 prolongs, luxury hotels that primarily targeted foreign business customers are transforming into new forms. The hotel industry is gaining attention as a relatively safe retreat for families with children by offering various services aimed at kids.
Seoul Shilla Hotel announced on the 18th that it has opened a permanently operated kids lounge. Previously, Seoul Shilla Hotel operated temporary kids lounges only during special seasons such as school vacations and Children's Day. However, with parents now having more concerns about outings with young children due to COVID-19, the hotel decided to operate the kids lounge year-round to simultaneously address concerns about hygiene, play, and education.
The kids lounge on the 5th floor of the main building was designed by emulating the luxurious space of Seoul Shilla Hotel's "The Executive Lounge." It features elements that captivate children's five senses. The beige and wood-textured interior creates a calm yet free atmosphere reminiscent of a kids' library.
In the lounge, children can enjoy books, prints by famous artists, and art objects. A cypress wood chip pool and wooden toys, which are good for sensory development, are also provided, harmoniously blending educational and play elements. At the entrance photo zone, a large Shilla Bear is placed. An opening event is also prepared, offering the toy "Pororo's Magical Wardrobe Play" to all children under 6 years old who use the kids lounge.
The kids lounge is open free of charge to hotel guests from Monday to Friday and is available on weekends through the "Read & Play Kids" package. On weekends, in collaboration with the picture book play English studio "Little Soho," the hotel offers a systematic and solid kids' education program including ▲ English picture storybook reading with teachers ▲ post-reading activities. The program is designed for recommended ages 4-6 and 6-9, conducted four times per session, each lasting 50 minutes. After the program, children can enjoy 40 minutes of free playtime.
The hotel explained, "Since this is a space for children, only six guests are allowed per time slot for thorough hygiene management," and "disinfection is carried out every 90 minutes." Samsung Electronics' Bespoke Cube Air, which purifies the overall air, is also installed in the lounge. Wearing masks is mandatory when using the space and participating in programs.
The picture book play English program offered every weekend at Seoul Shilla Hotel's kids lounge will run every Saturday and Sunday from the 22nd to February 27th and is available to those using the "Read & Play Kids" package. This package includes participation in an English storytelling & craft class (for one child, at a designated time) based on a one-night stay in a Business Deluxe Room, and access to the 5th-floor kids lounge (at a designated time).
