[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] As part of his Middle East tour, President Moon Jae-in, currently visiting the United Arab Emirates (UAE), attended the '2022 Dubai Korea Excellent Products Exhibition' held at the Dubai Expo Exhibition Center (DEC) North Hall on the 17th (local time) and encouraged the officials.

Entering the DEC North Hall together with KOTRA President Yoo Jung-yeol, President Moon was welcomed by Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City, and Kim Young-joo, Chairman of the Busan Expo Hosting Committee, at the Korea Excellent Products Exhibition promotional booth.

Immediately moving to the Korean Food Promotion booth, President Moon showed interest by asking Im Kyung-sook, Chairperson of the Korean Food Promotion Institute, "What is the most popular Korean food?" Chairperson Im replied, "Kimchi, seaweed, and red ginseng products are the most popular," and President Moon, while looking at the displayed doenjang jjigae and kimchi products, said, "The influence of Hallyu will be a great help."

Next, moving inside the product hall, President Moon visited the 'SafeWare' booth, which automatically detects falls to protect lives in case of fall accidents, and the 'HealthConnect' booth, a remote medical device, where he viewed the products and conversed with business representatives.

President Moon told Shin Hwan-chul, CEO of SafeWare, "Fall accidents at construction sites have not decreased," adding, "There should be initial demand, and the public sector should provide more support." When CEO Shin replied, "The National Land Safety Management Agency has purchased this product and is supplying it free of charge to small and medium enterprises," President Moon said, "The most gratifying and rewarding technological innovation is the one that protects human safety."

He also asked Lim Dong-seok, CEO of HealthConnect, "Can this be applied to people in remote areas, islands, or on ships?" CEO Lim answered, "Yes. Data is collected and diagnosis can be made anywhere in the world."

President Moon then visited the Samsung Electronics booth, where he received explanations about the newly released beam projector and home network system, saying, "Samsung is a company capable of various innovations." At the Hyundai-Kia Motors booth, he said, "Although we are a strong automobile nation, I was disappointed by the low electric vehicle adoption compared to our status, but Hyundai has made remarkable growth in recent years," encouraging them.

Finally, moving to the Busan World Expo promotional booth, President Moon told Mayor Park, "The Busan 2030 Expo has just started overseas (promotional activities), but it feels like it is not sufficiently known domestically," asking him to "make efforts." Afterward, he took a commemorative photo with officials and five members of the 'Busan Expo Global Supporters,' composed of local Dubai residents, before leaving.

Meanwhile, this year's Dubai Korea Products Exhibition featured 50 companies in total, including 48 small and medium enterprises, Samsung, and Hyundai-Kia Motors, with four halls set up inside the product hall, including K-beauty.
