[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] On the 17th, the People Power Party took legal action against Seoul's Voice, which recorded a phone call with Kim Geon-hee, wife of presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol, and MBC, which reported on it.
Yoo Sang-beom, legal advisor for the People Power Party, stated, "The People Power Party has filed a complaint with the Supreme Prosecutors' Office against lawyer Kim Gwang-jung, legal representative of MBC in the broadcasting injunction injunction case filed by Kim Geon-hee against MBC, and the MBC investigative program Straight production team for defamation of a candidate and false information dissemination under the Public Official Election Act."
He added, "The accused distributed or leaked the parts prohibited from broadcasting by the injunction ruling to an unspecified number of people, effectively nullifying the court's ruling."
According to his claim, the court, during the hearing on the 14th, prohibited the accused Kim Gwang-jung from making oral statements about the broadcast content to ensure the effectiveness of the injunction decision, and the judgment document was disclosed excluding Appendices 2 and 3 containing Kim Geon-hee's statements. However, he asserted that Appendices 2 and 3, which include a record that Kim Gwang-jung downloaded them at 5:26 PM on the 14th, are being indiscriminately distributed to an unspecified number of people.
