Gumi University Dean of Academic Affairs Kim Ki-hong Receives Commendation from Minister of National Defense

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Gumi University announced on the 17th that Kim Ki-hong, Dean of Academic Affairs (also Head of the Military Agreement Department), received the Minister of National Defense Award in recognition of his contributions to the operation and development of the e-MU (e-Military University) degree program.

Dean Kim led the establishment of the educational system, development of online class content, and the successful accreditation review by the Korea Engineering Accreditation Board when the Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Education, and seven universities jointly promoted e-MU in 2008.

He played a significant role in the elite training of technical non-commissioned officers by not only offering the e-MU specialized associate degree program but also establishing the e-MU major advanced course department awarding a four-year regular bachelor's degree in the 2018 academic year.

Dean Kim stated, “Military power is rapidly changing based on advanced technology and information capabilities, making the elite training of technical non-commissioned officers a very important military task,” and added, “We will do our best to systematically develop the e-MU degree program education to cultivate the finest technical non-commissioned officers.”
