[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 17th that it will intensively conduct inspections of vulnerable quarantine facilities and diagnostic tests for workers to curb the spread of COVID-19.


As Jeollanam-do extends the current social distancing measures from the 17th to February 6th in accordance with government policy, the maximum number of private gatherings in Naju, Yeongam, Naju, including Mokpo, will be maintained at 4 people.


Events and assemblies are allowed up to 49 people regardless of vaccination status, or up to 299 people if all are fully vaccinated. Religious events are permitted up to 30% of the venue capacity, with a recommendation to proceed non-face-to-face whenever possible. Operating hours and the 15 types of businesses subject to the vaccine pass in multi-use facilities remain unchanged.


The city plans to notify about 9,400 locations to ensure early compliance with these administrative orders and strengthen quarantine inspections by sector. In addition, from the 17th to the 28th, joint nighttime inspections of entertainment facilities will be conducted in four zones: Seonchang area, Bukhang area, Yongdang-dong area, and the new downtown area, together with related organizations such as Jeollanam-do and Mokpo Police Station.


According to this administrative order, operators and workers of high-risk facilities such as entertainment establishments, karaoke rooms, bathhouses, nursing hospitals and nursing facilities, and workplaces employing foreigners will have their testing frequency increased from once a week to twice a week (one PCR test and one rapid test). Accordingly, the city will provide rapid antigen test kits to high-risk facilities.


From the 17th, the city will operate a ‘mobile screening test’ for companies employing many foreigners and group facilities requesting tests. Applications for testing can be made to the Mokpo City Safety General Division.


Furthermore, from the 17th, activities of the Dong Emergency Autonomous Quarantine Team, composed of Dong employees, community leaders, and self-governing organizations, will be promoted. The quarantine team will conduct daily disinfection focusing on densely populated areas and carry out a temporary pause campaign centered on sectors with many confirmed cases such as entertainment establishments.


Meanwhile, the city gave up weekends to inspect compliance with quarantine rules at 593 religious facilities and 125 academies, private institutes, and indoor sports facilities on the 15th and 16th.


Also, to prevent spread through fishermen, a meeting was held on the 16th with Jeollanam-do, Mokpo Fisheries Cooperative, and others to discuss countermeasures.
