[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] On the 17th, Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, responded to allegations that a shaman named Jeon was working as an 'advisor' at the Central Election Countermeasures Headquarters by asking, "Is he really a shaman?" and clarified that Jeon holds no official position and was introduced as a volunteer.
After the launch ceremony of the 5th Buddhist Leaders Forum on the same day, Yoon met with reporters and said regarding the related allegations, "I heard he is a Buddhist priest," adding, "I saw an article claiming he was in charge of schedules and messages, which is quite absurd."
Earlier that morning, Segye Ilbo reported that the shaman Jeon was active as an advisor to Yoon's campaign headquarters and claimed that he had supported Yoon since his time as Prosecutor General.
Yoon said, "I have never met a shaman," and added, "The person mentioned in Segye Ilbo was introduced to me by a party official who said he was a strong supporter. I was told he is a Buddhist."
