Boseong-gun Converts International Event 'Boseong World Tea EXPO' to Ontact Format

Considering the COVID-19 Situation, Duration Shortened to 3 Days from April 29
International Scale Event Programs to be Presented at the 2023 Expo

[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Jeonnam Boseong-gun announced on the 17th that this year’s ‘10th Boseong World Tea EXPO’ will be converted into a non-face-to-face ontact event and held for three days from April 29 to May 1.

Originally, Boseong-gun planned to hold the ‘2022 10th Boseong World Tea EXPO,’ an international-scale event under the theme “Boseong, the Green Tea Capital of Korea, to the World! To the Future!” for seven days from April 15 to April 21.

The county decided to convert the face-to-face event into an online non-face-to-face event, judging that it was difficult to promote a practical international-scale event due to the continued spread of COVID-19 and restrictions on foreign participation caused by the emergence of variants such as Omicron.

In particular, anticipating unavoidable sunk costs due to uncertainty, the event period was shortened and the program was reorganized to focus on events that could be held even amid the COVID-19 situation.

This year’s Boseong World Tea EXPO, held ontact, will prepare the opening ceremony, sales events, evaluations and competitions, export consultations, experiences, and events while complying with quarantine measures for phased daily recovery, and will operate mainly practical programs that help increase actual income for tea farmers.

A Boseong-gun official said, “Considering the recent trend of COVID-19 spread, it is regrettable to convert and promote the event as a non-face-to-face ontact EXPO, but next year’s Boseong World Tea EXPO will be a tea culture festival enjoyed by tea lovers worldwide and will prepare solidly and productively to present a new industry roadmap that can show the leap and new possibilities of Boseong tea.”

The Boseong World Tea EXPO Organizing Committee stated, “The international-scale expo prepared this year will lay the foundation for the global advancement of Boseong tea and activate exchanges with the global tea market, and after one year of preparation, it will be showcased at the 2023 Boseong World Tea EXPO.”
