[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, is establishing a sound food distribution order and forming an inspection team together with the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service and honorary inspectors to guide and inspect origin labeling so that residents can prepare holiday meals with food they can trust.
According to the county on the 17th, they plan to focus inspections on restaurants and sales/processing businesses distributing agricultural and livestock products for ancestral rites and gifts, whose demand increases before the Lunar New Year, checking compliance with origin labeling (non-labeling, false labeling, confusing labeling, etc.) and whether livestock origin verification documents are prepared.
Depending on the inspection results, minor violations will be corrected on-site, while serious violations will be punished and administrative measures such as fines will be imposed according to the "Act on the Labeling of Origin of Agricultural and Fishery Products."
A county official said, "We will do our best in guiding and inspecting origin labeling so that residents can have a safe and enjoyable holiday with food they can trust."
