[Gangjin=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Gangjin County, Jeonnam, submitted a supplementary budget proposal of 3.45 billion KRW for the first supplementary budget of 2022 to the county council on the 14th to provide COVID-19 disaster relief funds to all residents.
According to the county on the 17th, immediately after the implementation of "With Corona," the supplementary budget was prepared to resolve the local economic downturn caused by the surge in COVID-19 cases and the strengthening of social distancing, and to revitalize the residents' economy. If the first supplementary budget is approved, 100,000 KRW per resident will be paid again this year following last year.
Also, as with last year, the funds will be distributed through Gangjin Love Gift Certificates, which is expected to circulate money within the local economy, increase sales for small business owners, and serve as a catalyst for economic recovery in the region.
Lee Jun-beom, Director of Planning and Public Relations, stated, "Thanks to the residents' active participation in quarantine efforts, we are overcoming COVID-19 wisely. We will continue to mobilize all administrative capabilities to prevent the spread of COVID-19," and added, "We will do our best to inject finances appropriately to prevent the local economy from shrinking."
Meanwhile, the budget proposal submitted by the county will be presented and voted on at the 276th Gangjin County Council extraordinary session held from the 18th to the 21st.
