[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Hansong Neotek announced on the 17th that its secondary battery material specialized subsidiary, Sinhwa IT, is in discussions to supply secondary battery lead tabs to the next-generation American battery company ‘EnPower, Inc.’
Sinhwa IT recently proceeded with lead tab supply and agreements with multiple global battery companies such as ‘Enovix’, ‘Enertech’, and ‘Zhongxin Guoan Mengguli (MGL)’, and is now conducting additional supply negotiations with the American next-generation battery company.
EnPower is a next-generation battery specialized company located in Phoenix, Arizona. It possesses outstanding technological capabilities, having succeeded in commercializing batteries that charge more than three times faster than conventional lithium-ion batteries while delivering over 70% more output. One of its core technologies, the ‘Multilayered Electrodes Architecture’, is patented. EnPower is currently expanding its production line in Indiana to a scale of 0.8GWh by next year.
A Hansong Neotek official stated, “Following U.S. President Biden’s ‘Made In USA’ policy, most American secondary battery companies have established large-scale production lines locally,” adding, “Besides EnPower, it is known that the American solid-state battery company, which Sinhwa IT is jointly developing with a U.S. lithium metal battery company currently supplied with high-performance lead tabs, is also preparing a gigawatt-scale production line locally.”
He continued, “The localization of secondary batteries in the U.S. under the ‘Made In USA’ initiative is expected to accelerate further, and our partner company Sinhwa IT is anticipated to benefit significantly,” adding, “We will continue close cooperation with our partner companies to achieve this.”
Sinhwa IT, which counts secondary battery companies such as Kokam and RootZed as major clients, signed a business agreement last month with the battery manufacturing startup ‘Enovix’, listed on the U.S. NASDAQ market, for the development and supply of next-generation silicon battery materials. It also negotiated lead tab supply with an American next-generation solid-state battery specialized company invested in by the Volkswagen Group and Bill Gates.
Additionally, Sinhwa IT has started supplying lead tabs to the global electric vehicle battery manufacturer ‘Enertech’ and the secondary battery specialized subsidiary of China’s Longsheng Group, ‘Zhongxin Guoan Mengguli (MGL)’, accelerating expansion into global markets including the U.S., Russia, and China.
