[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Iseul] Marvel's movie 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' has maintained the top spot at the weekend box office for five consecutive weeks.

According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticketing system, over the past weekend three days (14th to 16th), 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' was screened 7,989 times across 1,102 theaters and attracted 171,927 viewers, securing the number one position at the box office. Since its release on December 15th, the film has been watched by 6,897,608 people.

'Spider-Man: No Way Home' is the highest-grossing film to surpass 6 million viewers since the COVID-19 pandemic began, consistently drawing audiences as it holds the number one spot at the weekend box office for the fifth week.

In second place is 'Special Delivery' starring Park So-dam (director Park Dae-min), which was released on January 12th and attracted 160,147 viewers during its first weekend. The cumulative audience count is 233,432.

The popular musical animation sequel 'Sing 2' released on January 5th drew 134,346 viewers to rank third, with a total audience of 499,047. 'Blood of a Policeman' starring Jo Jin-woong and Choi Woo-shik (director Lee Gyu-man), released on the same day, attracted 90,725 viewers to place fourth, with a cumulative audience of 557,141.

The musical film 'West Side Story' and Ridley Scott's 'House of Gucci' took fifth and sixth places respectively, while 'Clifford the Big Red Dog' ranked eighth.

The total number of moviegoers over the weekend was 711,711. Following the release of 'Spider-Man,' the highest audience was recorded with 1.83 million viewers from December 17th to 19th, then 1,095,972 and 871,920 respectively, showing a decrease of over 1.1 million viewers within a month.

The January cinema market is showing a mood where, despite the release of many new films, it is not attracting as many viewers as expected.
