[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyeyoung] LG Electronics has launched a full-scale overseas market push for its new concept lifestyle screen, 'LG StanbyMe,' which has gained tremendous popularity immediately after its domestic release.


On the 16th, LG Electronics announced that it recently held an LG StanbyMe launch event targeting local MZ generation consumers at Central Market, a complex cultural space located in Central, the largest downtown area in Hong Kong.


Central Market is Hong Kong's first traditional market, remodeled and reborn last year as a complex cultural space. It is a symbolic building of Hong Kong's urban regeneration where the past and present coexist, attracting a large flow of people, especially young local consumers.


LG Electronics set up four experience booths decorated as home spaces such as living rooms and kitchens to introduce various use cases of LG StanbyMe. Visitors freely experienced the product by enjoying diverse viewing experiences in each space, linking mobile devices and screens using Apple AirPlay, and checking and controlling the operating status of home appliances.


In particular, the product's differentiated form factor, which received great response, allows users to move it around the house using moving wheels, rotate the screen vertically depending on the content being viewed, and freely adjust the screen position according to viewing posture.


Since the end of last year, LG Electronics has started selling LG StanbyMe at local electronics stores including Broadway, the largest electronics department store in Hong Kong, as well as Fortress and AV Life.

LG StanbyMe features a 27-inch (approximately 68 cm diagonal) touch display. It supports Swivel, which adjusts the screen left and right up to 65 degrees forward and backward respectively; Tilt, which tilts up and down up to 25 degrees respectively; and Rotating, which rotates 90 degrees clockwise and counterclockwise. The height is also adjustable up to 20 cm, allowing customers to freely adjust the screen position according to their viewing posture.


It also supports various content available on LG Smart TVs.


Major foreign media have also praised LG StanbyMe's differentiated form factor. The US IT specialist media Tom's Guide described LG StanbyMe as "a TV that adds artistic craftsmanship to the uniform smart TV market." Mashable also praised it as "One TV for all rooms and one of LG's coolest products."


Han Yuri, head of LG Electronics Hong Kong branch, said, "We will deliver differentiated customer experiences to more consumers by leveraging LG StanbyMe's differentiated form factor."
