[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] On the 14th, the Democratic Party of Korea filed a complaint with the prosecution against Kim Gun-hee, spouse of Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, for violating the Act on the Regulation of Concealment of Crime Proceeds.
The Democratic Party's Election Countermeasures Committee's National Verification Legal Support Group submitted the complaint to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on the same day.
Assemblyman Jeon Yong-gi stated, "Ms. Kim cannot be free from the suspicions related to the Deutsche Motors stock price manipulation that have emerged so far," adding, "It is gradually being revealed that not only she but also her mother, Choi Eun-soon’s bank and securities accounts were used in the stock price manipulation."
He further said, "Ahead of the presidential election, we request an immediate summons of Ms. Kim for a thorough investigation," and added, "If the investigation is delayed, it could undermine the neutrality and fairness of the prosecution's investigation and damage the reliability of the public's right to choose in the presidential election."
