Samsung 'Galaxy Tab S8' S Pen Same as Previous Model... Usability Improved

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] The S Pen equipped on Samsung Electronics' next-generation flagship tablet, the 'Galaxy Tab S8,' is expected to be the same model as the one provided with the previous 'Galaxy Tab S7.'

On the 13th (local time), IT specialist media SamMobile reported that the basic model of the Tab S8 passed the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification earlier this week.

According to the FCC documents, the S Pen for the Tab S8 series has the model number EJ-PT870, which is the same product used in the previous Tab S7. However, it is expected that software improvements will enhance the user experience. Additionally, there is speculation that the top-tier model, the 'Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra,' may come with an S Pen that has different specifications from the basic model.

According to related industries and foreign media reports, Samsung Electronics plans to release the Tab S8 series next month in three types: 'Galaxy Tab S8,' 'Galaxy Tab S8+,' and 'Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra.' The screen is expected to be an 11-inch LCD for the Tab S8 and a 12.4-inch OLED for the Tab S8+.

The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is expected to feature a 14.6-inch OLED screen, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen1 application processor (AP), and a large-capacity battery of around 12,000 milliampere-hours (mAh). It is also expected to support 45-watt (W) fast charging.

Meanwhile, there are expectations that the performance of the S Pen equipped on Samsung Electronics' next-generation flagship smartphone, the 'Galaxy S22' series' top-tier 'Ultra (Note)' model, will be significantly improved. According to IT tipster (leaker) Jarab Khan, the latency of the new S Pen equipped on the S22 Ultra is reported to be 2.8ms. Considering that the latency of the S Pen in the previous 'Galaxy Note20' series was 9ms, the response speed has become about three times faster.
