The Jeju District Court Criminal Division 2 (Chief Judge Jang Chan-su) sentenced A, a 49-year-old Chinese national who was arrested and tried on charges including rape, to five years in prison on the 13th. He was also ordered to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program and was banned from working in child and youth-related institutions for five years.

The court stated the reason for sentencing, saying, "The victim suffered severe psychological trauma due to the defendant's crime, and since the defendant has not been forgiven by the victim, a severe punishment is inevitable."

Earlier, in September of last year, after receiving a breakup notice from his girlfriend B, A forcibly took B to his residence and violently assaulted her. He also sexually assaulted and raped B. During this process, A filmed multiple nude videos of B using his mobile phone.

Subsequently, A distributed the nude videos of B through social networking services (SNS). He also attempted to extort approximately 8 million won from B through threats, but this attempt failed.
