Seoul~Busan Air Route: What to Choose? ... Gimpo~Gimhae Airport, Air Busan Most Used

1 in 2 People, Over 12 Million Transported in 10 Years

Leading Route Market Share for 7 Years, Surpassing Major Airlines

Seoul~Busan Air Route: What to Choose? ... Gimpo~Gimhae Airport, Air Busan Most Used Air Busan has surpassed major airlines to rank first in route share for seven consecutive years on the Gimpo-Busan route.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Air Busan has maintained the number one market share on the domestic representative inland route Gimpo~Busan, transporting over 12 million passengers in the past 10 years.

Air Busan announced on the 13th that it transported 12,508,300 passengers on the Gimpo~Busan route over the 10 years from 2012 to last year.

This accounts for nearly half of the total 28,181,765 passengers who used the route in the past 10 years.

The route began operations in October 2008, and in 2009, the number of passengers on this route was about half that of the large airlines already operating, but since 2015, Air Busan has held the number one passenger share.

Air Busan also reported that last year it was the only domestic airline to operate more than 10,000 flights, transporting approximately 1.55 million passengers. This is analyzed as a result of enhancing air traffic convenience by connecting South Korea’s first and second capitals.

One of the main reasons for holding the number one market share is the ‘3060 Shuttle Service,’ which started early on this route, departing from Gimpo at 30 minutes past every hour and from Busan on the hour like a shuttle bus.

Officials said this provides convenience so that passengers do not have to check the aircraft departure time every time, and naturally creates a marketing effect where Air Busan flights are considered first.

Operating 14 round trips on the Gimpo~Busan route, averaging 28 flights per day, which is up to four times more daily flights than other airlines, is also cited as a strength.

Having many flights increases the range of travel options and enhances passenger convenience.

Since the first flight in October 2008, Air Busan has continued operations on this route without a single accident, building trust, which is also considered a key reason for being number one in passenger transport for seven consecutive years.

An Air Busan official said, “We will strive harder to be recognized by customers with perfect safety and convenient schedules.”
