GKL Introduces 'Safe Report Lawyer' System

[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) announced on the 13th that it held an appointment ceremony for the Safe Reporting Lawyer at its headquarters in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, to implement the Safe Reporting Lawyer system.

The Safe Reporting Lawyer system is part of the "Anonymous Proxy Reporting System" introduced by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission in October 2018. It is a system where external lawyers provide legal consultation to GKL employees who report abuses of power, workplace harassment, public interest violations, corruption, etc., and, if necessary, proxy report to the company’s audit office.

Through the Safe Reporting Lawyer system, GKL expects to prevent harm caused by the exposure of the reporter’s identity and enhance the transparency and reliability of the reporting process by having external lawyers directly participate in the investigation process. The company also plans to actively promote and operate the system through its website and internal social networking services (SNS) in the future.

Kim Aekyung, Standing Auditor, stated, “With the introduction of the Safe Reporting Lawyer system, internal whistleblowers can receive professional consultation and have their confidentiality guaranteed when reporting.” She added, “Through the implementation of this system, we will build a clean and transparent GKL trusted by all stakeholders.”
